    A small boat found itself in the center of an enormous storm, what could it do to survive? I think almost all Bulgarian governments in modern time regardless of their ideology have acted wisely to keep Bulgaria as unharmed as possible. Yet every casualty hurts, but just think about 40 million people killed in WW2. The German could kill, so did the Russian. But Bulgaria came out almost intact from the war.Wasn't it a miracle? Or a quiet victory? History is not written only in black and white. We should be even-handed when judging the merits and demerits of a time, a generation or a system.

    The original plan was to build two towers in this place. This was in 1986 and no associations to 911 can be made. However in 1989 when communist regime falls there was not enough funding to complete the second building. Now this spot is fill by brand-new business-center. On the south side of the old building are still construction remains for it's twin tower never to be build.

    When I was the first year student in VMEI Sofia (1977) our team ferformed a song named "Five brothers in a tank" during the Summer Festival, wearing "government suits". When we appeared on the stage, those from the embassy were so stunned and all folks in the hall could not help laughing to tear. Later we received from the embassy a seriour censure for "improper behavior". What a fun !

    This Hotel must have been built later than 1983 because when I left Bulgaria, it did not exist yet. Instead there was a very luxurious for that time Japanese hotel named Vitosha at another place.

    Here I bought my first photocamera (Russian "Kiev") shortly after I arrived in Sofia. Also I used to come for music (plastic) discs. I spent a lot of money here. (1977-1983)
